The Inhumans is a Marvel TV series formed from a partnership between ABC and IMAX, that for the first time in TV history, will debut its two-hour premiere theatrically on the biggest of screens. It'll explore the never-before-told adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Marvel Comics’ “The Inhumans” refers to the race of super humans introduced in the Fantastic Four books in December 1965. Since then, the Inhumans, led by King Black Bolt, began appearing in other Marvel comic series, until their own book debuted in October 1975. More recently, Marvel has pushed them to the forefront in an effort to bolster their appeal since they own the TV and film rights to the characters. The ABC TV series will follow the Royal Family who lead the species first introduced in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as they lead their people through different circumstances while battling conflicts amongst themselves at the same time. It was initially planned as a film towards the end of MCU's Phase 3 but was scrapped during leadership changes at Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment. Black Bolt (Anson Mount) is the head of the Royal family which rules over the Inhumans city of Attilan, currently located on the moon, and his brother Maximus (Iwan Rheon) will attempt to overthrow him. Their origins date back millennia and are the result of an experiment performed by the Kree aliens on ancient humans called Terrigenesis that gave individuals unique super powers. The Kree were at the time interested in the evolutionary speed of humans while their own species remained stagnant in that regard so they experiment on other species to bio-engineer an army for their war with the Skrulls.
