Lt. Kirk becomes the youngest first officer in Starfleet and visits the USS Enterprise, unaware he will one day command it himself.
Kirk eventually becomes captain of the USS Enterprise, preventing invasions, facing court martials, and breaking records.
After a stint as Chief of Starfleet Operations, Kirk is demoted to captain and takes command of the USS Enterprise-A, where he feels he truly belongs.
